Plesmanduin is a remarkable place, full of remarkable stories that sometimes go back many generations. Take the story of Nico Soeters for instance, which his daughter Jos\u00e9 de Berk-Soeters has allowed us to share. Jos\u00e9 let us know via a private message that the photos of the former KLM shop were a precious memory for her. Let\u2019s return to around 1950.<\/p>\n

Nico Soeters, as seen here on the photos, worked in the KLM shop around 1950. Before the war, Nico had been a barber but, following forced labour in Germany, was really up for a new challenge after the war. He found that in the KLM shop. His daughter Jos\u00e9 told us that her father was often allowed to bring home the unsold croquettes. A real treat for their huge family with no fewer than 7 children.<\/p>\n
